Candlewood Suites laundry amenity is provided completely free to all current guests at this hotel. Near the entrance/lobby area, is 4 washer/4 dryer laundry units. All washer and dryer units appeared to be up to date and fully functional. The lobby area has incorporated modern furniture and decor, including a nice size, mounted LCD TV. The appearance of the hotel's exterior and interior was exceptional along with the amenities. When I checked out in the morning, I notified the staff of the incident to which she apologized but seemed generally unfazed that this happened. This incident could have led to the theft of my belongings in the room when I was not there, or worse, the injuries or deaths of the parties involved due to an altercation. It is absolutely ridiculous that this was allowed to happen and that there is no fail safes in place by upper management and corporate so that room cards are not issued to the same room to different people. This is absolutely unacceptable as the staff at the desk would have had to issue them this room key to be able to unlock my door. After pushing the door shut and securing the door with the second lock, the people yelled for a few more moments then left. The people appeared intoxicated and agitated trying to force themselves in the room saying it was their room and to get out, yelling, and attempting to reach through the open space left by the dead bolt. At around 4am, I was awoken by the sound of my room’s front door slamming against the deadbolt repeatedly by people attempting to get in the room. The room smelt really weird but seemed clean enough. After parking down the street at a parking garage ( Arrow Parking, I do recommend if you unfortunately stay at this hotel) and making the 1 minute walk to the hotel, we walked past several homeless appearing people sitting up against the hotel and entered the hotel. For people familiar with Massachusetts, Methadone Mile would be a similar comparison to this area. As close as this location seems to the safer areas (Camden Yards/Inner Harbor), it is about 1 block further then you would hope. There is lots of trash and paraphernalia covering the sidewalks as well as people high as a kite wandering around aimlessly. The area directly around this hotel is horrible as stated by other reviewers and is exactly if not worse as described.
